Therapy Through the Lens of Astrology & Chinese Metaphysics
I am a therapist first. The frameworks I use — Western astrology, Bazi (Four Pillars), and Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star Astrology) — are tools I may draw upon if they serve your process and you consent to exploring them.
For some clients, these systems offer a powerful language for understanding patterns, timing, and internal conflicts. For others, they’re not relevant at all. You remain in the driver’s seat.
How I work with Western astrology
Your natal chart can act as a mirror — not as a fixed destiny, but as a map of tensions, gifts, and developmental themes. In session, we might look at a difficult transit as a way to normalize a hard season, or explore a repeated planetary pattern as a doorway into earlier experiences. I never use astrology to predict or override your agency. It’s a reflective tool, nothing more.
How I work with Bazi (Four Pillars)
Bazi offers a different angle: your birth chart as a set of elemental relationships. It can highlight innate strengths, relational dynamics, and life phases where certain themes intensify. When used therapeutically, Bazi can help you depersonalize a struggle (“this is my Metal clashing with my Wood, not a character flaw”) or recognize why certain environments feel draining or enlivening.
How I work with Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star Astrology)
ZWDS provides a nuanced, palace-based chart that can illuminate life domains — career, relationships, inner world, family — and their interplay. In therapy, I may use ZWDS to help you see how different parts of your life influence each other, or to track recurring emotional patterns across time. It’s a complementary lens, not a diagnosis.
Important clarifications
- I do not offer standalone astrology or Bazi/ZWDS readings. These tools are only used within a therapeutic relationship, with clear goals you set.
- I do not predict the future. I do not claim these systems are scientifically validated. I offer them as culturally rich, symbolic frameworks that some clients find meaningful.
- You can opt out at any time. If you prefer talk therapy without any metaphysical lens, that is completely fine.
Who this approach may suit
You might appreciate this integration if:
- You already use astrology or Chinese metaphysics for self-understanding and want a therapist who speaks that language.
- You feel stuck in purely cognitive or behavioral approaches and are curious about symbolic or archetypal perspectives.
- You want to explore timing, life phases, or recurring patterns without rigid determinism.
Who this approach is not for
This is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric care. I do not work with clients seeking “magical” solutions or predictions. I also do not see couples.
